The Mast Cell
Our Products
The epidermis, dermis and skin appendages (nails, body and head hair) and (genital, oral and anal) mucous membranes are comprised in a microenvironment regulated by a highly specific set of cells and mechanisms which are responsible for keeping the complex balance among all components, in order to maintain the physiology of tissues, mucous membranes and, consequently, the individual well-being
The "Director" of this balance among systems and cells is the mast cell, which resides in the tissues and mucous membranes, and ensures tissue balance through the release of specific and appropriate chemical mediators.
The mast cell responds both selectively and differentially to stimuli in order to restore tissue balance.
However, if the irritating stimulus (maybe due to radiation, chemicals, heat, sepsis or surgery, etc.) persists, the mast cell's response is undifferentiated, thereby in itself causing and concurrently amplifying the tissue damage.
